振動摩擦機的發展是根據物理學的原理-摩擦引起振動而產生熱量來發展的,基於這原理,對兩個上下熱塑性材料施加機械壓力的同時,上部夾具帶動上部膠件,依設定的位移量或振幅做橫向的高頻率往復運動,利用膠件間摩擦產生的高熱能使接合面充分熔化,待停止振動,膠件回到原位並持續施壓及冷卻,使熔融層固化成行完成熔接。
